Today we’d like to introduce you to Joyce and Debra Glenn.

Joyce and Debra Glenn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We got our start in entertainment as models at age 16. Our resume consists of cosmetic ads, hair ads, editorial spreads, catalogues, music videos, calendars, and book covers. After modeling for a few years, we ventured into acting and hosting. We landed roles in films like Fast Five and television shows like The Rickey Smiley Show, Single Ladies, The Game, Boomerang & American Soul, as well as hosted several TV shows and industry events. After pursuing acting and hosting, we began merchandising, launching our own personalized items.

In 2018, we ventured into the beauty industry with the launch of Mirror Image Cosmetics! Mirror Image is a high-quality makeup line for the modern, dynamic woman, celebrating versatility and self-love! The line features top-of-the-line highlighter and bronzer palettes, elegant lashes and high-intensity lipstick!

In addition to our merchandising endeavors, we’ve also added the title of author to our list of achievements with the release of Keeping Your Crown: The Black Woman’s Guide to Reclaiming Greatness. Keeping Your Crown is a nonfiction, motivational, self-help book designed to inspire and challenge black women to raise their overall standards to achieve success in their personal lives and in turn, make a positive impact within the black community!

Aside from our careers in entertainment, we regard education very highly and have both obtained BBAs in Accounting, graduating Magna Cum (Debra) and Suma Cum (Joyce) Laude. Our scholastic accomplishments allowed us to primarily fund our education with academic scholarships. We are also members of the prestigious business honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We started our career at a relatively young age, so trying to balance our high school and college careers with modeling and acting work was overwhelming. We prioritized school, which helped us organize our busy schedules. While in college, we were recognizable music video vixens. The attention that our music video appearances attracted on campus helped up gain quite a few haters, which eventually made our social life relatively nonexistent.

The only upside to this was it encouraged us to remain focused on our studies which helped us graduate with honors. It also braced us for the downside of fame. We developed thick skin and the strength and resilience necessary to succeed in this business.

We also had to adjust to the grind of acting and how inconsistent bookings can be. We had to learn to embrace rejection and gaps in income during the slow seasons. However, this inspired us to use our business degrees and explore entrepreneurial endeavors and become more creative and proactive in pursuing our own opportunities like the launch of our book and our cosmetics company.

Mirror Image Cosmetics – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Mirror Image Cosmetics is a high-quality makeup line offering high-pigment lipstick, radiant highlighter and 3D mink lashes. Mirror Image Cosmetics celebrates layered and dynamic women who “wear many hats.” The versatility in our products allows women to create the perfect look to satisfy every occasion. From the office to galas, to date night or a night out, Mirror Image Cosmetics will ensure you look amazing in every room!

Mirror Image Cosmetics specializes in high-quality products that are professional grade and easy to use. The Mirror Image matte lipstick is unique because the formula dries with a traditional matte finish but is flexible, nourishing and doesn’t dry out or crack off like other matte lipsticks. The vinyl lipsticks are the glossiest, high-pigment, long-wear lipsticks available! The Mirror Image mink lashes have a fine lash band for easy application and amazing comfort so they don’t irritate the eyes like other mink lashes. The mink lash selections are dramatic and sophisticated but not gaudy. The Mirror Image highlighters are easy to apply and offer a range of “glow” from a subtle, natural shimmer to an intense and glowing shine!

We are most proud of the amount of quality we put into everything we do! We take pride in our beautiful packaging and our safe ingredients. Our products are Paraben Free, Hypo-Allergenic, Allergy Tested, Non-Comedogenic, Fragrance-Free and Not Tested on Animals.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Thus far, becoming published authors and releasing our first book “Keeping Your Crown” has been a defining and proud moment. Also, launching our cosmetics line, Mirror Image Cosmetics, was equally fulfilling. Both of these projects were life long dreams of ours independent of our entertainment industry endeavors.
