Delaware State University and Epitome of Soul Present the DSU Sizzling Summer Series
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on July 08, 2025

Delaware State University, in proud partnership with Epitome of Soul, is bringing the DSU Sizzling Summer Jazz Series to Downtown Dover with an exciting lineup of dynamic jazz performances designed to bring vibrant sound and summer energy to the heart of the state capital.

Hosted at the historic Schwartz Center for the Arts, the series will spotlight the following nationally acclaimed musicians across three consecutive weekends:

• Saturday, July 12 – Tony Cimorosi Trio featuring soloist Candace Culcleasure, NYC guitarist Nat Janoff, and Philly drummer Kevin James.

• Saturday, July 19 – Fostina Dixon and Winds of Change, delivering soulful, saxophone-led soundscapes that celebrate the power and evolution of jazz.

• Sunday, August 3 – Tony Capella: What the Funk, closing the series with high-energy funk fusion and rhythmic brilliance.

Each performance runs from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. (doors open at 2 p.m.), followed by a VIP Reception where guests can meet the artists and mingle with fellow music lovers.

"This series is a celebration of artistry, community, and the joy of live music,” says Synita Butler Hatcher, series curator. "We're thrilled to create a space where world-class jazz meets local culture.”

Concert tickets are $15 for each performance, and concert tickets with the VIP reception pass are $25.
