Wanted: new homes for cats, dogs during National Adoption Week
|
Posted By: Hija Chang on July 21, 2025 Animal service organizations across Massachusetts are joining in the National Adoption Week sponsored by PetSmart Charities to find homes for the animals that are filling many shelters to overflowing. The events are scheduled throughout the week and will be held at the PetSmart Charities stores across the Bay State. In Worcester, Second Chance Animal Services and the Worcester Animal Rescue League will have special events. Second Chance is focusing on the springtime boom in kitten births while also seeking homes for its adult cat population. The Rescue League has waived adoption fees for specific adult dogs who need homes. Shelters have been seeing steady increases in their animal populations, according to Sheryl Blancato, CEO of Second Chance. The organization offers veterinary services at four locations, including in Worcester and Southbridge, and runs a shelter in East Brookfield. All its veterinary sites participate in the state spay/neuter coupon program and also offer reduced-cost veterinary services to low-income families. https://www.yahoo.com/news/wanted-homes-ca...
