Jacksonville, FL – Dr. A. Zachary Faison, Jr., President & CEO of Edward Waters University (EWU)—Florida’s first independent institution of higher learning and the state’s first Historically Black College or University (HBCU)—is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Danielle D. Blackwell, MPA, CFRM, as Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Development, Marketing & Communications, effective August 4, 2025.

Ms. Blackwell’s appointment follows the completion of an extensive and highly competitive national search conducted in partnership with Dr. Dakota Doman and the executive search firm ZRG Partners.

She brings to EWU more than two decades of transformative experience in fundraising strategy, institutional advancement, philanthropy, and integrated communications across higher education, government affairs, and the nonprofit sector.

In her new role, Ms. Blackwell will serve as the university’s chief advancement officer and senior strategist for all matters related to fundraising, alumni engagement, strategic marketing, brand development, and communications. She will also provide visionary leadership for the university’s comprehensive institutional advancement infrastructure, guiding efforts to expand philanthropic support, increase public visibility, and steward key stakeholder relationships.
