All Currently Scheduled Classes Conversations on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) is a training program that aims to prevent suicide by teaching people how to safely store lethal means, such as firearms and medications, during a crisis. The program’s goal is to create distance and time between people at risk of suicide and lethal means, which can potentially save lives. CALM Conversations is intended for the general public and provides tools for intervening with people at risk before or during a crisis. If your work frequently puts you in touch with people who are at their lowest–perhaps you’re a defense or divorce attorney, tend bar, serve eviction notices, teach court-ordered drunk driving classes–this workshop may help you save lives. This workshop is intended for a general audience and requires no prior training in mental health or suicide prevention. REGISTER HERE: https://namimn.org/education-and-public-aw... ******** Hope for Recovery is a four-hour workshop for family, friends, and loved ones of a teen or adult living with a mental illness to learn about anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, schizophrenia, and co-occurring disorders, including the diagnostic assessment process, treatments, and recovery. Participants will also learn about crisis management and suicide prevention, tools for healthy relationship building while helping a loved one, and local resources. Led by trained family members who have been there, this workshop includes presentations, discussions and interactive exercises, as well as support and connection among peers. A workbook is provided to participants to complete exercises and journaling during and after the workshop. This workshop is not for professional development or observation. Food and drinks will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own water or snacks. Registration is recommended, but not required.
