The 2025 Chevrolet Trax 2RS Low Cost Value

Posted By: Randi Payton on September 08, 2025 When deciding to choose a low-cost subcompact SUV that has style, advanced features, and performance while staying within a budget, the 2025 Chevrolet Trax 2RS fits the bill. It doesn't just play in that space; it dominates the competition with aggressive style and more value for the price. With a starting price of $21,895, it's one of the most affordable vehicles on the market, and comes with modern features like a suite of safety tech, a large 11-inch dual-cockpit infotainment screen, and performance and off-road tech. For around $25,895 MSRP, you can move up to the Trax 2RS, which includes many other features that are usually impossible at this price point. The 2RS model I tested came with new 19-inch Gloss Black machined wheels, dual power heated mirrors, a rear spoiler, daytime running lights, and roof rails. The interior features include heated seats for the driver and passenger and heated steering. Power/Performance: The Trax is powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged inline-three cylinder engine that packs a punch with 137 horsepower, producing 162 lb-ft of torque, and smoothly shifts gears with its six-speed automatic transmission. As the name implies, Trax is about the Track, proving that fun-to-drive performance doesn't have to be defined by horsepower, but clever engineering. The Trax is a complete package that redefines what to expect in an affordable compact SUV. Although it's not powerful, it is fun and engaging to drive. The low torque is peppy, responsive on drives around town, and eagerly takes on sharp corners. The sport-tuned suspension is noticeably firmer than the ACTIV or LT trims, reducing body roll and providing a connected, confident feel on winding roads. Chevrolet's StabiliTrak, a stability control system, adds another layer of safety by managing the wheel speed, steering, and detecting loss of traction before a skid. It then applies the brakes to the individual wheels, while also controlling engine power. The system works in the background to ensure advanced safety features support performance. Once inside, a large 11-inch diagonal infotainment display and an eight-inch digital gauge cluster dominate the dashboard, operating Chevy's latest software, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and other features. The interior also feels premium with supportive stitched seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and roominess. Safety: Additional upgrades include the Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of safety features across every trim. It includes automatic emergency brakes, front pedestrian brakes, lane-keep assist with lane-departure warning, and auto high-beams. Models/Price: The Trax starts at around $21,895 for the LS model and goes up to $25,895 for the fully-loaded 2RS and the off-road ACTIV trim. The entry-level 1RS begins at $23,895, and the value-focused LT is about $24,095 MSRP. Fuel Economy: The Chevy Trax is designed for efficiency, offering drivers up to 30 mpg on average. That means you can expect about 28 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, according to EPA estimates. Plus, it runs on flexible fuel, giving you more options at the pump.
