2024 vs the 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Posted By: Randi Payton on October 01, 2025 If the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a masterpiece in fun driving, as described in my previous review, then the 2025 model has the same spirit, but with a slightly sharper and more vibrant performance. Adhering to the philosophy that "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" is still true for the 2025 MX-5 model. However, Mazda made some strategic and meaningful updates that redefine the experience without diluting the core character and fun-to-drive spirit of the 2024 roadster. However, considerable changes to its handling and performance result from an improved electronic steering system and upgraded chassis. All models have new dampers for better maneuvering and cornering. The Club model I tested felt more responsive and connected to the road. While the 2024 Miata's interior was known for its driver-focused, minimalist layout, the technology was beginning to show its age. The 2025 model decisively fixes this. The 2025 interior has a polished dash with Mazda's latest Connect Infotainment System, an 8.8-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which feels more modern than last year's model. New for 2025: The changes to the 2025 include an updated suspension and steering, modernization of the interior technology, and minor exterior revisions. The front is slightly more aggressive, which consists of a new fascia, a reshaped grille, and revised headlights on the Club and Grand Touring trims. It is also distinguished by new wheel designs and two new colors, Aero Gray Metallic and Deep Crystal Blue Mica. After receiving major updates last year, the 2025 Miata adds a limited 35th Anniversary Edition to its lineup, which will only include 300 vehicles for the United States. It is based on the Grand Touring trim and comes in Artisan Red Metallic color with a Tan Nappa leather interior. Other features include heated seats, in-dash navigation, and a Bose stereo system. Power/Performance: The 2025 MX-5 Miata retains the same fuel-efficient and peppy 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine, which generates 181-horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. It averages 26 city/34 highway mpg, according to the EPA. Models/Price: The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata offers six different configurations that include: The Miata Sport ($30,765), Club ($34,715), Grand Touring ($36,065), 35th Anniversary Edition ($37,485), Grand Touring RF ($38,785), and Club RF ($42,535).
