Bethune-Cookman University Celebrates President Mosley’s First 100 Days: A Bold Vision for Innovation, Research, and Renewal
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on October 16, 2025

Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) is celebrating the milestone of President Albert D. Mosley’s first 100 days in office — a period defined by bold innovation, strategic collaboration, and renewed optimism across the Wildcat community. Dr. Mosley’s early leadership has focused on listening, learning, and leading with purpose, translating campus-wide feedback into tangible action that is shaping B-CU’s next era of excellence.

“These first 100 days have been about listening, learning, and leading with purpose,” said Dr. Mosley. “Our goal is to honor the legacy of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune while positioning Bethune-Cookman University for global impact, financial strength, and academic distinction.”

Expanding Access: B-CU Global

Among Dr. Mosley’s most transformative first initiatives is the launch of B-CU Global — the University’s fully online academic division designed to expand access to high-quality, flexible learning opportunities for students across the country and around the world. B-CU Global will offer fully accredited bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, providing academic excellence through virtual instruction, online tutoring, and career-aligned coursework.

“B-CU Global is about access and empowerment,” said Dr. Mosley. “It represents our mission to extend the reach of Dr. Bethune’s vision to learners who may never set foot on our campus, yet share our spirit of service, scholarship, and success.”

Early pilot programs will focus on adult learners and working professionals in high-demand fields such as business, education, and health administration, aligning with the University’s broader mission of educational equity. B-CU Global is slated to launch in January, 2026.

B-CU Futures: Eight Degrees for the Future Workforce

Complementing the launch of B-CU Global, the University has introduced B-CU Futures — a strategic academic initiative featuring eight cutting-edge programs tailored to emerging industries and workforce demands. The new degree offerings include Actuarial Science, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, Esports/Gaming Administration, Healthcare Administration, Supply Chain Management, and an MBA in Healthcare Administration.

“These programs are the future,” said Sagal Buchanan, President of the Student Government Association. “Students are excited because they see degrees that connect directly to real careers. President Mosley’s leadership has brought an energy to campus that feels forward-looking and unstoppable.”

B-CU Health Scholars: Building Pathways to Medical Careers

Dr. Mosley’s administration also unveiled the B-CU Health Scholars program — a comprehensive pre-professional pipeline designed to prepare students for careers in medicine, dentistry, optometry, and allied health fields. The program will provide intensive academic advising, mentorship, clinical shadowing, and scholarship support to equip B-CU graduates for advanced study in the health sciences.

“Health Scholars represents our commitment to developing the next generation of compassionate, skilled healthcare professionals who will return to serve their communities,” Dr. Mosley explained. “We’re bridging aspiration with access and purpose with preparation.”

B-CU Research Initiative and McAllister-Quinn Partnership

Under Dr. Mosley’s leadership, Bethune-Cookman has launched the B-CU Research Initiative to strengthen the University’s profile in sponsored research, faculty publication, and student innovation.

The initiative includes a new partnership with McAllister-Quinn, a national firm specializing in research development and grants management, to expand the University’s external funding portfolio.

“This partnership will allow B-CU to be more competitive in securing federal, corporate, and foundation grants,” said Carla Lester, Professor of Communications and Chair of the Faculty Senate. “It gives our faculty new tools and our students more opportunities to participate in meaningful, real-world research.”

B-CU Rising: A Comprehensive Campaign for the Future

Bethune-Cookman has also embarked on the early stages of its B-CU Rising Comprehensive Campaign — a multi-year philanthropic effort to strengthen the University’s financial foundation, invest in academic innovation, and enhance student experiences. A feasibility study is currently underway to guide the scope and priorities of what is expected to be one of the most ambitious fundraising campaigns in B-CU history.

“B-CU Rising is about more than dollars,” said Pete Gamble, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “It’s about sustaining a legacy. President Mosley has reignited confidence among alumni, partners, donors, and community — and we are building momentum toward a truly transformative future.”

Major Gifts: Infrastructure, Faith, Music, and Mission

Philanthropic momentum has followed Dr. Mosley’s appointment, with new gifts demonstrating faith in his leadership and B-CU’s trajectory. Among the most notable are a $1.5 million investment from Sodexo that was used to completely refresh and renovate all of the campus’ dining facilities. Additionally, a $200,000 endowed scholarship was received from Rev. Robert Gibbs, a retired United Methodist clergyperson, supporting students pursuing ministry and religious studies. There have also been renewed donor investments in the B-CU Marching Wildcats band for instruments, scholarships, and touring support.

Supporting Student Needs

The new One-Stop Shop serves as a centralized hub for student support and engagement. This transformative initiative streamlines access to essential services, bringing together key departments – including First-Year Experience, the Bethune Center for Men’s Achievement, Student Leadership and Engagement, the Dean of Students, and Conduct and Community Standards. By housing these resources under one roof inside the newly renovated Parlin Center, the One-Stop Shop enhances efficiency, fosters collaboration, and ensures students receive personalized support throughout their academic journey.

“This is a bold step forward in how we support our Wildcats,” said Dr. Mosley “By bringing our student services together in one accessible location, we are removing barriers and making it easier for our students to focus on what matters most: their education and career and professional development. The Parlin Center now stands as a symbol of our commitment to innovation, excellence, and student success.”

Momentum and the Road Ahead

As Bethune-Cookman University enters a new era of growth, the first 100 days of Dr. Mosley’s presidency have set a powerful tone of unity and ambition. Enrollment trends are positive, research funding is expanding, and faculty and students alike are embracing the University’s renewed direction.

“The energy on campus is palpable,” said Buchanan. “Students feel seen, faculty feel heard, and everyone feels part of something bigger. It’s an incredible time to be a Wildcat.”
