(Keniece Ford-El) has spent over two decades carving out a singular space where music, culture, and healing converge. Her career began in 1998 with producer T. Hatter, leading to opening gigs for Tony! Toni! Toné!’s D’Wayne Wiggins across San Francisco. Soon after, she became a member of the groundbreaking Punany Poets, the brainchild of Jessica Holter, where her voice helped bring poetry, music, and sexuality to the stage in bold new ways. From 2000 to 2002, K.W.E.E.N. toured and sang background with revolutionary hip hop group The Coup, appearing on their landmark albums Party Music and The Stand. Around the same time, she studied at Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, forging lifelong collaborations with artists including Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra Creative Partners and Chief Xcel of Blackalicious. With Blackalicious, she was featured on multiple tracks, most notably “Give It To You” with Lyrics Born, and she also appeared on a remix of Fatboy Slim’s “Wonderful Night,” produced by Chief Xcel. Her R&B work includes contributions to LaToya London’s debut Love and Life (“Anything”), co-writing “On Everything,” a duet with Anthony Hamilton, and serving as co-creative director on both the “On Everything” and 2019 Forever videos. In 2018, she and LaToya co-founded RS Music Group, which K.W.E.E.N. now solely operates as her platform for music and curated live shows. Recent releases include Elevate with Nature Makonnen on the Reverence Riddim compilation alongside Reggae giants - Dezarie, Queen Omega, Kabaka Pyramid and others (Kushite Organic Records 2025) - and the single “Nuthin’ To Me” featuring T. Hatter (RS Music Group). Equally dedicated to well-being education and practice, K.W.E.E.N. is a practitioner of Chinese Medicine, a sound healer, and home birth advocate. She serves as President of Love Delivers - a natural birth agency and film initiative, and has facilitated women’s wellness retreats for over a decade. As a PhD student - she researches women’s mysteries and healing systems, weaving her scholarship into accessible wellness frameworks that empower communities across generations. From hip hop tours and international collaborations to spiritual healing and academic rigor, K.W.E.E.N. embodies Oakland’s legacy of creative density, and innovation. She stands as an artist and cultural architect, shaping soundscapes and wellbeing on a global stage".
