📢Umoja Community Research is Seeking Select Dissertation Candidates for Mentorship - Free of Charge
|
Posted By: Dr. Andrew McLear, Psychologist on December 12, 2025 Umoja Community Research was established as a safe space for doctoral candidates to receive individualized support (free of charge) throughout their dissertation journey, as a way to give back to the community. Currently, openings exist for another cohort of candidates who may need help regardless of which phase of the process they are in. Selection is on a first-come, first-served basis. While each candidate's needs are different, below are some of the areas/services past candidates requested and received help with: ✅️Selection of a research topic, formulation of the research question, the appropriate methodology (quantitative or qualitative), and the theoretical/conceptual lens to guide the study and answer the research question. ✅️Mentorship in APA-style dissertation writing. Note: emphasis is placed on adherence to institutional policies of ethical and academic integrity standards. ✅️Analyzing dissertation drafts using institutions’ rubrics, checklists, and dissertation guides to augment constructive committee chair/member feedback to enhance research quality, rigor, and transform writing style into a coherent and polished manuscript. ✅️Evaluating research methodologies and selected frameworks to ensure alignment throughout the manuscript. ✅️ Identifying gaps, vagueness, or inconsistencies in drafts - suggesting improvements to elevate research precision, readability, and credibility. ✅️Providing one-on-one mentoring to help candidates overcome personal challenges (e.g., time management) that may be hindering their progression. ✅️Expertly guiding candidates through the dissertation processes, ensuring adherence to academic standards of integrity, while fostering a culture of self-confidence and scholarly excellence. If Umoja Community Research can assist you, please message me to discuss further. If you know of doctoral candidates who may benefit from the services provided, please share this post with them.
