The HBCU Student Leadership & Social Justice Conference at Coppin State University is an interdisciplinary gathering for students and professionals committed to leadership, advocacy, and social justice. Hosted by the Dorothy I. Height Center for the Advancement of Social Justice in the Department of Social Work, this year’s conference celebrates Coppin’s 125th anniversary with the theme "Reignite, Liberate, Organize," honoring the legacies of Fannie Jackson Coppin and Dr. Dorothy I. Height while inspiring action for change. Social Justice Awards Presentation Dorothy I. Height Award – Honoring a student leader committed to equity, service, and liberation. Walter P. Carter Award – Recognizing outstanding leadership in social justice. Brush Strokes of Liberation Panel This panel explores the role of art, culture, and storytelling in activism and social justice, featuring the unveiling of a commissioned art piece by Dr. Rasheem, a social justice advocate, artist, and filmmaker. Keynote Address – Erricka Bridgeford The renowned activist and co-founder of Baltimore Ceasefire will deliver an inspiring address on violence prevention, community healing, and advocacy.
