The 2026 season opens with a symbolic and intriguing matchup, as FAMU welcomes Albany State to Tallahassee on August 29th. This reunion pits the Rattlers against the program Quinn Gray just led to an SIAC championship and an NCAA Division II quarterfinal run. The opener also reunites Gray with his former quarterback, Isaiah Knowles, who now finds himself on the opposite sideline.

But there's an added layer of intrigue: Albany State's only regular-season loss in 2025 came against FAMU. Less than a year later, Gray returns to Tallahassee as the Rattlers' head coach, ready to face his former team and unfinished business.

One week after the Albany State clash, the Rattlers travel to Miami for the iconic Orange Blossom Classic, where they'll face the reigning Celebration Bowl champions, South Carolina State. And the gauntlet doesn't end there. Just four days later, FAMU stays in South Florida to take on the Miami Hurricanes, fresh off a College Football Playoff National Championship appearance.

A Schedule Built for Greatness

As the season progresses, FAMU's slate only gets more daunting. Tennessee State visits Bragg Memorial Stadium on September 19th, adding another chapter to the rivalry between two historic programs with national recognition and proud alumni bases. Conference play begins the following week against Alabama A&M, followed by a challenging road stretch against Alabama State and Jackson State.

The Rattlers then return home for back-to-back games against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Southern, offering a chance to build rhythm and momentum before the all-important November stretch. The regular season concludes with a trip to Alcorn State and a home finale against Mississippi Valley State, leading up to the annual Florida Classic against rival Bethune-Cookman in Orlando.
