Alabama A&M Lands Top Talent from Transfer Portal, Boosting HBCU Football Prospects

NORMAL, AL - In a major coup for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs football program, the team has secured the commitment of quarterback Bekkem Kritza from the transfer portal. Kritza, a former three-star recruit, spent the 2025 season with the Big Ten's Penn State Nittany Lions but will now bring his talents to the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) powerhouse.

Kritza, a standout at Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Florida, threw for over 5,000 yards and 56 touchdown passes during his high school career, earning him recognition as one of the top quarterback prospects in the nation. Although he did not see any game action during his lone season at Penn State, the young signal-caller now has the opportunity to showcase his skills and lead the Bulldogs to success in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

Alabama A&M's quarterback room was already stocked with talent, including Quad Brown and Eric Handley, who both saw significant playing time in head coach Sam Shade's first season.

The arrival of Bekkem Kritza adds another dynamic element to the Bulldogs' offense, and his presence on the roster will undoubtedly raise the level of competition and push the entire quarterback group to new heights. This move not only strengthens Alabama A&M's championship aspirations but also serves as a testament to the growing appeal of HBCU athletics among top-tier talent.

"Bekkem Kritza's decision to join the Alabama A&M football program is a major win for the HBCU community. It showcases the caliber of talent and coaching that these institutions can attract, and it will undoubtedly inspire more student-athletes to consider the unique opportunities and vibrant culture that HBCUs have to offer."

HBCUConnect.com Perspective: The signing of Bekkem Kritza is a significant development for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs and the HBCU community as a whole. As top-tier talent continues to recognize the value and competitiveness of HBCU athletics, it not only strengthens the programs but also sends a powerful message about the depth of talent and the bright futures that these institutions can provide. This transfer announcement is a testament to the growing appeal of HBCUs and the exciting times ahead for HBCU sports enthusiasts.
