$810,000 in Vital Funding Strengthens Historic HBCU's Mission

Morris Brown College, the iconic historically Black college in Atlanta, Georgia, is receiving a significant financial boost to support its ongoing resurgence and campus security initiatives. The school has secured $810,000 in funding from a combination of government, religious, and philanthropic sources, empowering Morris Brown to prioritize student safety and enhance its academic offerings.

The centerpiece of this funding is a $700,000 grant from the U.S. government, secured through the efforts of Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05). This critical support will enable Morris Brown to develop comprehensive emergency response plans, upgrade communications and public safety technology, conduct risk assessments, and hire additional security personnel to ensure a safe learning environment for students, faculty, and staff.

In addition to the government grant, Morris Brown has received $60,000 from the Sixth District of the AME Church, coinciding with the institution's 145th anniversary, and a $50,000 donation from Atlanta rapper and producer T.I. to support endowment scholarships.
