WILBERFORCE, Ohio — The Central State University women's basketball team continued its impressive home court dominance, securing its third consecutive victory at Beacom/Lewis Gym with a 63-52 win over Savannah State University on Wednesday evening.

The Marauders have been a force to be reckoned with on their home floor this season, showcasing the tenacity and skill that has made them a powerhouse within the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). This latest triumph over the Tigers extends Central State's impressive home winning streak, further cementing their status as one of the top HBCU basketball programs in the country.

Key Takeaway: Central State University's women's basketball team continues to dominate at home, earning their third straight victory at Beacom/Lewis Gym and solidifying their position as a force to be reckoned with in the SIAC conference.

Leading the charge for the Marauders was senior guard Jasmine Smith, who poured in a game-high 17 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Smith's veteran presence and scoring prowess have been instrumental in Central State's success this season, as the team looks to defend its SIAC title and make a deep run in the NCAA Division II tournament.

Alongside Smith, sophomore forward Megan Getz made her presence felt on both ends of the floor, contributing a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Getz's hustle and tenacity in the paint have been a key factor in the Marauders' dominant performances at home.

For Savannah State, senior guard Kenyata Hendrix led the way with 16 points, but the Tigers struggled to find a consistent offensive rhythm against the stifling Central State defense.

"Our team has really come together and developed a winning mentality at home," said Central State head coach Sheba Harris. "The support from our HBCU community has been incredible, and our players feed off that energy to deliver these kinds of performances."

The Marauders' impressive home record and their continued success in the SIAC conference hold significant importance for the HBCU community. As one of the premier basketball programs at an HBCU institution, Central State's achievements serve as a source of pride and inspiration for alumni, students, and supporters across the nation.

HBCUConnect's Perspective: The Central State University women's basketball team's dominance at home and within the SIAC conference is a testament to the excellence and dedication of HBCU athletic programs. These types of success stories showcase the talent and determination of student-athletes at historically Black colleges and universities, inspiring the next generation of HBCU leaders and ambassadors. The Marauders' continued success is a point of pride for the entire HBCU community, and their journey towards a potential NCAA Division II championship will be closely followed and celebrated by HBCU supporters everywhere.
