Morehouse College Partners with Connecticut Community Colleges for Seamless Transfer
Posted By: Will Moss on February 02, 2026

Atlanta, GA - In a groundbreaking move to expand educational opportunities for students, Morehouse College, one of the nation's premier Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), has announced a new partnership with select Connecticut community colleges. This innovative agreement will provide a seamless pathway for community college graduates to continue their studies at the prestigious Morehouse institution.

The partnership, which was finalized in recent months, enables students who complete an associate's degree program at participating Connecticut community colleges to transfer directly into Morehouse College as juniors. This streamlined transfer process will allow these students to complete their bachelor's degrees at Morehouse, one of the most renowned HBCUs in the United States.

Key Takeaway: This new agreement expands educational access and opportunities for community college students in Connecticut, allowing them to pursue their studies at the prestigious Morehouse College, a pillar of the HBCU community.

"Morehouse College is thrilled to partner with Connecticut's community college system to provide a clear pathway for students to continue their education at our institution," said Dr. David A. Thomas, President of Morehouse College.

"This collaboration aligns with our mission to empower the next generation of Black leaders and innovators, and we look forward to welcoming these talented students to our campus."

The partnership is expected to have a significant impact on the educational aspirations of community college students in Connecticut, many of whom come from underserved or underrepresented backgrounds. By offering a direct route to a prestigious HBCU like Morehouse, this agreement opens up new doors for these students to access a world-class education and the unique experiences that HBCUs provide.

"This is an incredible opportunity for our students," said Dr. Terrence Cheng, President of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system. "Morehouse College is a renowned institution, and we are thrilled to partner with them to create a seamless transfer pathway. This will undoubtedly enhance the educational and career prospects for our community college graduates."

The partnership is expected to be in effect starting in the fall of 2023, with the first cohort of Connecticut community college students transferring to Morehouse College. Both institutions are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and providing the necessary support to ensure the success of these transfer students.

HBCUConnect.com, the premier online community for HBCU alumni and supporters, applauds this groundbreaking partnership between Morehouse College and Connecticut's community colleges. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in expanding access to high-quality education and fostering the growth of the HBCU community nationwide.
