Howard's Lyons and UMES' Irving Earn MEAC Weekly Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 4, 2026 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), home to 11 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), has announced its weekly women's track and field honorees, and the awards showcase the impressive talents of student-athletes from two esteemed HBCU programs.

Howard University junior Yahnari Lyons was named the MEAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) graduate student Faithlyn Irving earned the MEAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week distinction.

Lyons, a standout from Howard's esteemed track and field program, put forth an impressive performance that earned her the weekly conference honor.

Meanwhile, Irving, a graduate student at UMES, solidified her status as one of the top field athletes in the MEAC with her award-winning efforts. The Hawks, known for their strong tradition in track and field, continue to produce exceptional student-athletes who are making waves in the conference and beyond.
