Reinvestment Fund Commits $10 Million to HBCU Brilliance Initiative
Posted By: Will Moss on February 16, 2026

Reinvestment Fund, a national mission-driven financial institution, has announced a new $10 million HBCU Brilliance Initiative to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country. The initiative will provide up to $1 million per school to help strengthen academic programs, enhance campus infrastructure, and expand access to higher education for underserved communities.

The HBCU Brilliance Initiative is part of Reinvestment Fund's broader commitment to investing in and empowering minority-serving institutions. HBCUs have played a vital role in educating and uplifting African American students for generations, and this new program aims to further bolster their impact.

"HBCUs are cornerstones of the Black community, providing transformative educational opportunities and pathways to success," said Donald Hinkle-Brown, President and CEO of Reinvestment Fund. "We are proud to launch the HBCU Brilliance Initiative to invest in the future of these invaluable institutions and the students they serve."

Key Takeaway: The $10 million HBCU Brilliance Initiative will provide up to $1 million in funding per HBCU to support academic programs, campus infrastructure, and access to higher education.

The initiative is open to all accredited HBCUs, and the application process will prioritize institutions with the greatest need and potential impact.

Funds can be used for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Developing new academic and research programs
  • Upgrading campus facilities and technology
  • Expanding student support services and scholarships
  • Strengthening community engagement and partnerships

"This investment from Reinvestment Fund is a game-changer for HBCUs," said Dr. David Wilson, President of Morgan State University, one of the nation's leading public HBCUs. "It will enable us to enhance our academic offerings, improve our infrastructure, and provide more opportunities for the talented students who choose to attend our institutions."

"HBCUs are cornerstones of the Black community, providing transformative educational opportunities and pathways to success."

The HBCU Brilliance Initiative is a significant investment in the future of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. By providing up to $1 million per school, Reinvestment Fund is demonstrating its commitment to empowering these vital institutions and the students they serve. As the premier online community for HBCU alumni and supporters, HBCUConnect.com applauds this initiative and believes it will have a lasting impact on the HBCU ecosystem, opening new doors of opportunity and strengthening the foundations of these beloved institutions.
