Posted By: Will Moss on February 21, 2026

The fifth annual Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl wrapped up its practice sessions on Thursday, showcasing the incredible talent of HBCU student-athletes and leaving scouts from the National Football League (NFL) eager to see what these players can do on the big stage.

Throughout the week-long event, defensive standouts like Morgan State's Erick Hunter and Jackson State edge rusher Quincy Ivory set the tone with their physical play and impressive displays of burst and power during position drills and team periods. These players' performances have generated significant buzz among the scouts in attendance, who are eager to see what these HBCU talents can bring to the next level.

On the offensive side of the ball, North Carolina Central running back Chris Mosley turned heads with his dynamic playmaking ability, building on a week designed to showcase the exceptional talent found at HBCUs. Mosley's standout performance is a testament to the wealth of offensive firepower present at these institutions, and a clear indication that HBCU players are ready to make their mark in the professional ranks.

Key Takeaway: The Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl has once again proven to be a valuable platform for HBCU student-athletes to showcase their skills and attract the attention of NFL scouts.

The outstanding performances of players like Erick Hunter, Quincy Ivory, and Chris Mosley have further cemented the reputation of HBCUs as breeding grounds for elite football talent.

While not every prospect was able to finish the week at full strength, with Virginia Union running back Curtis Allen held out due to a hamstring issue, the overall level of talent and competitiveness on display was undeniable. This annual event continues to be a crucial stepping stone for HBCU players to take their careers to the next level, and the 2026 edition has once again proven the enduring value of these institutions to the broader football landscape.

As the HBCU community eagerly awaits the 5th Annual Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl on February 21st, the performances of these standout players serve as a powerful reminder of the incredible depth of talent that exists within Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This showcase event not only provides a platform for these athletes to showcase their abilities, but also underscores the vital role that HBCUs play in developing the next generation of football stars. The HBCU community can take great pride in the accomplishments of these student-athletes, who are poised to make their mark on the NFL and beyond.
