ALBANY, Ga. — In a thrilling display of HBCU basketball prowess, the Benedict College Lady Tigers closed out their regular season with an impressive 89-78 victory over the Albany State University Golden Rams on Saturday.

The Lady Tigers, who hail from the rich basketball tradition of Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, showcased their offensive firepower and defensive tenacity in this hard-fought conference matchup. Led by the dynamic duo of Jaliah Hall and Ariana Smith, the Lady Tigers weathered a spirited challenge from the Albany State Golden Rams to secure the victory.

Key Takeaway: The Benedict Lady Tigers' triumph highlights the outstanding talent and competitiveness of HBCU basketball programs, which are often overlooked on the national stage. This victory is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the players and coaches, and a source of pride for the HBCU community.

Hall, a standout junior guard, led the way for the Lady Tigers with a game-high 25 points, showcasing her scoring prowess and playmaking abilities. Sophomore forward Ariana Smith chipped in with a double-double, recording 18 points and 10 rebounds, while also contributing on the defensive end with several key blocks and steals.

"Our team has been working hard all season to put ourselves in a position to succeed, and this win is a testament to their dedication and determination," said Head Coach Vince Alexander.

"We're proud to represent Benedict College and the HBCU community on the court, and we'll continue to fight for every win as we head into the postseason."

The victory capped off a strong regular season for the Lady Tigers, who finished with a conference record of 12-6 and an overall record of 15-12. Their performance this season has earned them a spot in the upcoming Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) tournament, where they will look to make a deep run and potentially secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II tournament.
