Clark Atlanta Panthers Sweep LeMoyne-Owen Magicians, Cementing SIAC Dominance

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In a gripping Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) showdown, the Clark Atlanta Panthers men's basketball team demonstrated their prowess and resilience, securing a hard-fought 67-65 road victory over the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians at Bruce Hall/Johnson Gymnasium.

The Panthers, representing one of the premier Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the nation, have now completed a season sweep of their SIAC rivals, the Magicians, further solidifying their position as a dominant force in the conference.

This victory is particularly significant for the Panthers, as they continue to uphold the rich basketball tradition of Clark Atlanta University, an institution that has long been a beacon of excellence and pride within the HBCU community. The Panthers' tenacious performance on the court not only showcases the talented student-athletes who don the blue and white but also the unwavering spirit and determination that embodies the HBCU experience.

Key Takeaway: The Clark Atlanta Panthers' season sweep of the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians underscores the depth of talent and competitive drive within the SIAC, a conference that has long been a breeding ground for exceptional HBCU basketball programs.

Leading the charge for the Panthers was Jalen Williams, who poured in a team-high 18 points, while Jamal Waller and Davion Thomas each contributed 12 points to the winning effort.

The Magicians, on the other hand, were led by Tyrone Dilworth, who scored a game-high 22 points.

"This was a hard-fought battle against a talented LeMoyne-Owen team, but our guys stepped up and executed when it mattered most," said Clark Atlanta head coach Darrell Walker. "I'm proud of the way we played with poise and composure down the stretch to secure the victory."

The Panthers' triumph over the Magicians not only solidifies their position atop the SIAC standings but also serves as a testament to the dedication and unwavering spirit of HBCU student-athletes. These young men, who often face unique challenges and obstacles, have risen to the occasion, showcasing their athletic prowess and embodying the core values that define the HBCU experience.

As the HBCU community, we at HBCUConnect.com are thrilled to celebrate the successes of the Clark Atlanta Panthers and the countless other HBCU basketball programs that continue to inspire and captivate us. These victories are not just about the final scores; they are a reflection of the resilience, determination, and pride that define the HBCU experience. We salute the Panthers and all HBCU student-athletes who are making their mark on the court and, in the process, uplifting the entire HBCU community.
