Aggies Dominate Again: North Carolina A&T Retains CAA Indoor Track and Field Championship
Posted By: Roger The Great on February 24, 2026

The North Carolina A&T Aggies made a triumphant return to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships, cementing their status as the conference powerhouse. Held in Boston, the Aggies once again showcased their athletic prowess, repeating as the men's team champions with a commanding performance.

The Aggies' depth and versatility were on full display as they amassed an impressive 175.5 points, leaving Northeastern (121 points) and William & Mary (120 points) in their wake. The team's success was a testament to their dedication and the hard work of their coaches and support staff.

Leading the charge for the Aggies were their standout sprinters, who set the tone early on. Jason Holmes delivered a remarkable performance, winning both the 60-meter dash (6.67 seconds) and the 60-meter hurdles (7.71 seconds), earning a total of 20 points in the process. Complementing Holmes, Lassale Hewlett added another 6 points with a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash (6.74 seconds).

Key Takeaway: The Aggies' dominance in the sprints showcased their depth and versatility, setting the tone for their overall victory and solidifying their status as the team to beat in the conference.

But the Aggies' success wasn't limited to the sprints. They also excelled in the quarter-mile, with Elijah Thomas winning the 400-meter dash in 46.99 seconds and teammate Xzaviah Taylor finishing a close second in 47.10 seconds, earning the team an additional 18 points.

In the field events, the Aggies continued to shine.

Xavier Partee captured the triple jump title with a distance of 15.22 meters, while Alex Henry set a meet record in the weight throw with a distance of 19.54 meters, further solidifying the Aggies' dominance.

While the Aggies stole the spotlight, Hampton University also made its mark on the championship. The Pirates delivered a standout performance in the 4x400-meter relay, winning the event in a meet-record time of 3:08.75, edging out the Aggies' time of 3:09.31. Marquis White also made his mark, setting a meet record in the long jump with a distance of 7.57 meters.

"This championship is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes and coaching staff. We are proud to represent the HBCU community and continue our tradition of excellence in track and field."
