VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Feb. 23, 2026 - In a testament to the unwavering excellence of HBCU athletics, the Norfolk State University men's indoor track and field team claimed their fifth consecutive MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Championship title on Monday evening at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

The Spartans' remarkable run of success has captivated the HBCU community, solidifying their status as a powerhouse within the conference and beyond. Led by a talented roster of student-athletes, Norfolk State's triumph is a testament to the dedication, grit, and unwavering spirit that embodies the HBCU experience.

Two Spartans stood out with top individual honors, as junior sprinter Jaylen Mathenge was named the MEAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, and senior thrower Darius Johnson earned the MEAC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year award.
