Rattlers and Aggies Reign Supreme at Arcis HBCU Golf Championship
Posted By: Will Moss on February 26, 2026

WESTON, FL - The third annual Arcis HBCU Golf Championship was a celebration of Black excellence in the sport, as Florida A&M University and North Carolina A&T State University emerged victorious in the men's and women's divisions, respectively.

Hosted by Arcis Golf, a leading owner and operator of premier golf courses nationwide, the 54-hole tournament featured 95 student-athletes from 17 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Beyond the competition, the event offered valuable career expos, networking opportunities, youth golf clinics, and alumni events - all designed to grow the game and provide pathways for HBCU golfers.

Key Takeaway: The Arcis HBCU Golf Championship is not just about the competition, but also about creating opportunities and experiences for HBCU student-athletes to thrive in the sport of golf and beyond.

Florida A&M Secures Men's Title

The Florida A&M Rattlers answered every challenge down the stretch, edging out Alabama State by just two strokes to capture the men's team championship with a three-round total of 759 (+39). Led by individual medalist Phalatphon Viboonviriyasakul, who won on the first playoff hole, the Rattlers demonstrated poise and composure under pressure to secure the narrow victory.

Rattlers standout Sascha Robinson added a T-3 finish at 186 (+6), including a tournament-best 68 in Round 2.

Emilio Garcia (T-9, +13) and Miguel Illas (18th, +19) also contributed critical depth to Florida A&M's triumph.

North Carolina A&T Dominates Women's Division

The North Carolina A&T Aggies continued their impressive season, winning the women's team title with a 786 total. Senior Ekaterina Prokhorova claimed medalist honors with a 187 performance, earning her third individual victory of the year. Teammate Tori Mouton finished fourth at 195, helping the Aggies secure their third team championship of the season.

The Aggies finished ahead of Howard (790) and Texas Southern (799) in the women's competition, showcasing the depth and talent within the HBCU golf community.

"The lessons learned at this championship extend far beyond the course - building pathways, experience, and lasting opportunity for HBCU student-athletes." - Arcis Golf CEO Blake Walker

As Arcis Golf CEO Blake Walker noted, the significance of the Arcis HBCU Golf Championship goes beyond the scorecards. It's about creating meaningful experiences and opportunities for HBCU student-athletes to thrive in the sport of golf and connect with industry leaders.

The HBCU community can take great pride in the performances of the Rattlers and Aggies, as they continue to showcase the exceptional talent and determination of HBCU student-athletes on the national stage. This championship serves as a testament to the rich golfing heritage and bright futures of HBCUs across the country.
