The road to the CIAA Basketball Tournament championship is heating up, and HBCU fans are thrilled to see their beloved teams making a push for the title. On Day 2 of the tournament, the number-one seeds made their debut, and one game in particular stood out as a true showcase of HBCU basketball at its finest.

Fayetteville State 86, Bowie State 83

In what was undoubtedly the most gripping contest of the day, the Fayetteville State Broncos clawed their way to an 86-83 victory over the Bowie State Bulldogs. This hard-fought matchup demonstrated the tenacity and skill that HBCU athletes bring to the court, captivating the CIAA community.

Key Takeaway: The Fayetteville State Broncos' thrilling win over Bowie State showcased the passion and determination that define HBCU basketball, solidifying their place in the CIAA Tournament semifinals.

The first half belonged to Bowie State, as they led for the entire stanza and outworked the Broncos in the paint. However, Fayetteville State found a spark in the second half, led by the heroics of guard Terrell Williams.

Williams, who had a quiet first half, erupted for 6-of-7 shooting in the second half, sparking a crucial run that gave the Broncos the lead.

Despite Bowie State's valiant effort to regain the advantage, Fayetteville State's defense stood tall, denying the Bulldogs on key possessions down the stretch. This nail-biting victory not only advances the Broncos to the semifinals but also serves as a testament to the grit and resilience that are hallmarks of HBCU sports.
