UAPB Football Embarks on Marquee Matchups, Aims to Shine for HBCU Faithful
Posted By: Will Moss on March 03, 2026

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Golden Lions football team is poised to make a big statement on the national stage in 2026, with a schedule that features high-profile neutral-site games and a challenging Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) slate.

Coach Alonzo Hampton and his squad will kick off the season in style, taking on the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers on August 29 at the iconic War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. This early-season clash presents an opportunity for the Golden Lions to showcase their talent before a statewide audience and set the tone for the year ahead.

Just one week later, UAPB will face off against a formidable Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent, the Missouri Tigers, on September 3. While the SEC matchup will undoubtedly be a tough test, it will also serve as a chance for the Golden Lions to measure themselves against one of the nation's premier football programs and gain valuable experience that can benefit them in conference play.

Key Takeaway: UAPB's neutral-site games against Morehouse and Alcorn State provide the Golden Lions with high-profile opportunities to showcase their talents and build momentum ahead of their SWAC campaign.

The excitement continues on September 12, as UAPB takes on Alcorn State University at the Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis.

This SWAC showdown will be a crucial early-season conference clash, setting the tone for the Golden Lions' pursuit of a division title.

With four home games, including a matchup against the Central State University Marauders on September 19, and a challenging SWAC schedule that includes visits to Southern University, Grambling State University, and Texas Southern University, the Golden Lions will have ample opportunities to prove their mettle and solidify their standing among the HBCU elite.

As the UAPB faithful eagerly await the 2026 season, the significance of these marquee matchups extends far beyond the field of play. For the HBCU community, the Golden Lions' success on a national stage serves as a source of pride and inspiration, reminding us of the rich tradition and immense talent that exists within our historic institutions.

"UAPB's ambitious 2026 schedule is a testament to the program's ambition and the Golden Lions' ability to compete at the highest levels of HBCU football. These high-profile showcases will not only raise the profile of the university but also showcase the incredible talent and resilience that defines the HBCU experience."

As the UAPB Golden Lions embark on their 2026 campaign, the HBCU community eagerly awaits their performances, knowing that the team's success will inspire and unite HBCU supporters across the nation.
