Tuskegee, Morehouse Set to Clash in Highly Anticipated SIAC Title Showdown

Tuskegee, Morehouse Set to Clash in Highly Anticipated SIAC Title Showdown
Posted By: Will Moss on March 07, 2026

The stage is set for an epic clash between two of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (SIAC) powerhouse programs, as the Tuskegee Golden Tigers and the Morehouse Maroon Tigers prepare to battle it out for the SIAC Men's Basketball Championship title.

Both teams solidified their spots in the championship game with dominant semifinal victories. The Golden Tigers cruised to a convincing 70-53 win over the Clark Atlanta Panthers, blitzing them from the opening tip and never relinquishing the lead. SIAC Player of the Year Kusamae Draper led the way for Tuskegee, pouring in 20 points on 50% shooting, while also contributing 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

Meanwhile, the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse overcame a closely contested first half to pull away in the second half, securing a 71-56 victory over the Miles Golden Bears. Morehouse's superior depth proved to be the difference, as their bench nearly outscored Miles' entire team in the second half, 18-24.

The Maroon Tigers also showcased their defensive prowess, forcing 12 turnovers that led to 22 points on the other end.

Key Takeaway: This SIAC championship matchup between Tuskegee and Morehouse is a highly anticipated rubber match, as the two conference rivals have split their first two meetings this season. Both teams are also looking to end lengthy championship droughts, with Tuskegee last winning in 2014 and Morehouse's last title coming in 2003.

The first matchup between these two powerhouses saw Tuskegee emerge victorious, 67-55, handing Morehouse their first conference loss of the season. However, the Maroon Tigers claimed the most recent meeting, 77-69, in a game that was marred by controversy involving Tuskegee head coach Benjy Taylor and Morehouse security.

"This game is the ultimate rubber match between two of the SIAC's finest programs. Both Tuskegee and Morehouse have rich histories and passionate fan bases, and this championship showdown is sure to be an epic battle that will captivate the HBCU community."

For the HBCU community, this highly anticipated SIAC title game represents the culmination of a thrilling basketball season and a showcase of the talent and competitiveness that defines HBCU athletics. Regardless of the outcome, this clash between the Golden Tigers and Maroon Tigers will undoubtedly be a must-see event for HBCU fans and alumni alike.
