Atlanta, GA - In a thrilling semifinal matchup at the SIAC Basketball Tournament, the Morehouse Maroon Tigers showcased their championship mettle by surging past the Miles Golden Bears with a dominant second-half performance, securing a 71-56 victory and a spot in the conference title game.

Entering the tournament as the top seed from the SIAC East, the Maroon Tigers were determined to make their mark. Led by a balanced offensive attack and a stifling defensive effort, Morehouse weathered an early challenge from Miles before pulling away in the second half to punch their ticket to the championship.

Key Takeaway: The Morehouse Maroon Tigers' impressive victory over the Miles Golden Bears underscores the strong basketball tradition at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the SIAC conference.

The matchup showcased the depth and talent of the Maroon Tigers, as they received contributions from multiple players throughout the game. Bryce Davis led the way with 18 points, while Tyrese Woodard added 16 points and Brandon Mcllwain chipped in with 12 points.

The Maroon Tigers' defense was equally impressive, holding the Golden Bears to just 56 points and limiting their scoring opportunities.

Donte Tatum paced Miles with 14 points, but the team struggled to find their rhythm against the stifling Morehouse defense.

This victory marks a significant milestone for the Maroon Tigers, who are seeking their first SIAC championship since 2019. Head coach Grady Brewer praised his team's resilience and teamwork, saying, "We weathered the early storm and stayed focused on our game plan. Our guys stepped up when it mattered most, and I couldn't be prouder of their effort."

"This team has worked hard all season, and they deserve to be in the championship game. We're excited to represent Morehouse and the HBCU community on the big stage."
