MORROW, Ga. — The Miles Lady Bears have etched their names in the history books once again, securing their third consecutive Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Basketball Tournament championship. With a hard-fought 59-52 victory over the Lane College Dragons, the Lady Bears have become the first HBCU women's basketball program to accomplish this feat since the Fort Valley State Wildcats from 2000-2003.

Led by the dynamic duo of Imani Johnson and Jasmine Williams, the Lady Bears overcame a resilient Dragons squad to claim the 2025 SIAC Women's Basketball Tournament presented by Toyota. Johnson, the tournament's Most Valuable Player, put on a stellar performance, scoring a game-high 21 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Williams, the team's veteran leader, contributed 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, guiding her team to the historic triumph.

Key Takeaway: The Miles Lady Bears' three-peat SIAC championship is a testament to the program's exceptional talent, coaching, and teamwork, solidifying their status as a powerhouse in HBCU women's basketball.

The Lady Bears' success is particularly significant for the HBCU community, as they have established themselves as a dominant force in the SIAC.

This achievement not only brings pride and recognition to the Miles College campus but also highlights the remarkable talent and dedication of HBCU student-athletes, who often face unique challenges but continue to excel on the national stage.

Head coach Tamika Catchings, a former WNBA star, has masterfully guided the Lady Bears to this historic three-peat. Her commitment to player development, strategic game planning, and instilling a winning culture have been instrumental in the team's sustained success.

"This is a truly remarkable accomplishment for our team and our program," said Catchings. "Our players have worked tirelessly, and I'm so proud of their dedication and resilience. This three-peat is a testament to their talent and the strength of HBCU basketball."

The Miles Lady Bears' historic achievement serves as an inspiration to the entire HBCU community, showcasing the excellence and potential of HBCU sports programs.
