MORROW, Ga. β€” In a thrilling display of HBCU basketball prowess, the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers defeated the Tuskegee Golden Tigers by a score of 62-52 in the opening round of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Tournament on Thursday.

The Lady Panthers, led by their tenacious defense and balanced scoring attack, showcased the strength and resilience that has become synonymous with HBCU athletics. This victory not only propels them into the coveted SIAC Semifinals but also serves as a testament to the remarkable talent and determination fostered within the HBCU community.

Key Takeaway: The Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers' triumph over Tuskegee underscores the competitive spirit and winning tradition that HBCUs have long cultivated in their sports programs.

Leading the charge for the Lady Panthers was sophomore guard Amber Calhoun, who poured in a game-high 19 points and dished out 5 assists. Calhoun's performance, combined with the contributions of her teammates, showcased the depth and versatility that make the Clark Atlanta squad a force to be reckoned with.

The Tuskegee Golden Tigers, a formidable opponent in their own right, fought valiantly but ultimately fell short against the relentless efforts of the Lady Panthers.

Senior forward Cydney Kelley led the way for Tuskegee with 16 points and 8 rebounds, demonstrating the individual excellence that is often a hallmark of HBCU student-athletes.

With this victory, the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers now set their sights on the SIAC Semifinals, where they will face the Miles College Golden Bears. This matchup promises to be an electrifying showcase of the rich basketball heritage shared by HBCUs across the country.

"This win is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team," said Clark Atlanta head coach Shaquana Blunt. "We take great pride in representing our university and the entire HBCU community on the court."

HBCUConnect.com is thrilled to celebrate the success of the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers and the many other HBCU sports teams that continue to inspire and unite our vibrant community. These student-athletes embody the resilience, academic excellence, and community-driven spirit that are the hallmarks of the HBCU experience. Their victories on the court are a reflection of the unwavering determination and pride that propel the HBCU movement forward, and we eagerly await their next triumph.
