Posted By: Will Moss on March 15, 2026 Bethune-Cookman University has announced the departure of women's basketball head coach Janell Crayton Del Rosario following the Wildcats' exit from the SWAC Tournament, bringing an end to her five-season tenure leading the program. The coaching change comes after Crayton Del Rosario compiled a 48-101 overall record and posted a 32-58 mark in SWAC play during her time at the helm of the Daytona Beach-based institution. Key Takeaway: Bethune-Cookman is moving in a new direction with its women's basketball program after five seasons under Crayton Del Rosario, who departs with the university's gratitude for her service and commitment to student-athlete development. Reggie Theus, B-CU Vice President of Athletics, released a statement acknowledging Crayton Del Rosario's contributions to the program and the university community. We are grateful to Coach Crayton Del Rosario for five years of leadership, dedication, and service to our women's basketball student-athletes and university. She has made meaningful contributions to our program, and we appreciate the energy and commitment she poured into developing our young people both on and off the court. We wish her continued success in the future. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat. Crayton Del Rosario's final game as head coach of the Wildcats was a hard-fought 55-52 loss to in-state rival Florida A&M in the second round of the SWAC Tournament, ending B-CU's postseason hopes. The Wildcats will now begin the search for new leadership as they look to build upon their foundation and compete in the highly competitive Southwestern Athletic Conference. The university has not yet announced a timeline for naming Crayton Del Rosario's successor or whether an interim coach will be appointed. As Bethune-Cookman moves forward, the focus will be on finding a coach who can elevate the program and help the Wildcats compete for SWAC championships in the coming seasons.
