URGENT: Kentucky State University Faces Legislative Threat - NAACP Emergency Zoom Meeting Tonight

URGENT: Kentucky State University Faces Legislative Threat - NAACP Emergency Zoom Meeting Tonight

FEATURED Content

Kentucky State University is facing an unprecedented legislative threat that could set a dangerous precedent for HBCUs across the nation.

The NAACP is calling an emergency meeting TONIGHT at 7:00 PM for KSU Alumni and Supporters to address this critical situation.

What's Happening:
Kentucky Senate Bill 185 would declare financial exigency at KSU for up to five years, granting sweeping authority to:

  • Terminate tenured faculty
  • Cut academic programs
  • Reshape the university into a polytechnic institution limited to just 10 academic areas

Even more alarming, some legislators have openly discussed closing the university entirely -- and this bill is being framed as the "alternative" to closure.

This is bigger than one university. If SB 185 succeeds, it could establish a devastating precedent that threatens HBCUs nationwide. The survival of Kentucky State University -- and potentially other historically black institutions -- hangs in the balance.

Take Action Now:
Join the NAACP Emergency Meeting tonight to learn more, ask critical questions, and stand in solidarity with KSU.

Meeting Details:
Date: Tonight, March 30, 2026
Time: 7:00 PM
Format: Virtual via Zoom
Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/5956844252

HBCU Connect will continue providing full coverage of this developing story with press releases and ongoing updates. The HBCU community must unite now to protect one of our cherished institutions.

The time to act is now. Join tonight's emergency meeting and make your voice heard in defense of Kentucky State University and the future of HBCU education.
