Norfolk State Track and Field Shines in Sprint Events at Home Invitational

The Norfolk State Spartans men's track and field team showcased their speed and depth at their home invitational, delivering impressive performances across multiple sprint events that highlighted the program's competitive strength.

The Spartans made their presence felt early in the 100-meter dash, where Antoinne Smith led the way with a fourth-place finish, crossing the line in 10.41 seconds. Smith wasn't alone in representing Norfolk State at the top of the field, as Julian Ward claimed eighth place with a time of 10.55, while Christopher Basking finished just behind in ninth with 10.56.

The depth of the Spartan sprint squad became even more apparent in the 200-meter dash, where Norfolk State fielded five competitors in the top dozen finishers. Kendrick Winfield paced the group with an outstanding fourth-place performance, clocking 21.13 seconds.

The Spartans' impressive showing continued with Smith adding a seventh-place finish in 21.39, followed closely by Donovan Terry in ninth at 21.42. Rounding out Norfolk State's scoring efforts was Lavontay Bond, who placed 12th with a time of 21.48.
