Posted By: HBCU CONNECT on April 18, 2026 Check out this video from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland! In this episode of A Bold Take, we explore resilience, innovation, and legacy through the voices shaping the Bowie State community. Deuce Alston (BSU ’09, ’16) shares his journey from setback to success—building a government contracting business that has secured over $4M in federal contracts, while also launching a smoothie café and mentoring others in entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Dr. Chimdimnma “Chi Chi” Esimai, Research Programs Manager and CURE Coordinator, discusses how she’s creating research-driven learning environments that empower students to succeed academically and professionally. Bella Mbonifor, a sophomore Biology (Pre-Med) major, offers insight into her aspirations in neurology and her plans to serve in the U.S. Army Medical Services through ROTC. The Hatcher Legacy Family (Ceci M. Hatcher-Aikens & Karen Hatcher-Thomas) reflect on their multi-generational ties to Bowie State and their continued impact through scholarship initiatives and community engagement. This episode is a powerful reminder of what it means to build, lead, and leave a lasting legacy. 💛🖤 Subscribe, share, and stay connected with the BSU Alumni community!
