The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced its women's tennis weekly awards on Monday, recognizing standout performances from two talented players representing HBCU programs across the conference.

Morgan State University sophomore Tyler Williams earned MEAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors, while Delaware State University freshman Maite Bou Safont claimed Rookie of the Week recognition, the conference office in Norfolk, Virginia announced on April 21, 2026.

Key Takeaway: Two MEAC institutions are being celebrated for their women's tennis excellence, with Morgan State and Delaware State athletes earning conference recognition for their exceptional play on the court.

Williams' selection as Player of the Week marks a significant achievement for the Morgan State Bears sophomore, highlighting her continued development and impact on the court.

The recognition showcases the rising talent within the Morgan State women's tennis program and demonstrates the competitive level of play the Bears are bringing to MEAC competition.

Meanwhile, Bou Safont's Rookie of the Week honor underscores an impressive start to her collegiate career at Delaware State. The freshman's early success represents a promising foundation for the Hornets' women's tennis program and suggests a bright future ahead for the first-year player.

These weekly honors reflect the ongoing commitment to excellence in women's tennis across the MEAC, one of the nation's premier conferences for HBCU athletic competition. The awards recognize not only individual achievement but also the strength and depth of women's tennis programs throughout the conference.

Both Morgan State and Delaware State continue to build competitive tennis programs that provide student-athletes with opportunities to excel both academically and athletically while representing their respective institutions at the highest level of HBCU sports.

The MEAC remains committed to celebrating the achievements of its student-athletes throughout the spring tennis season, with weekly honors highlighting the exceptional talent competing across member institutions.
