HBCUAC Makes History: Jarvis Christian University Joins as 16th Member, Creating Nation's Largest HBCU Athletic Conference

The HBCU Athletic Conference is making waves with a historic expansion that solidifies its position as the premier athletic league for Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the nation.

On Tuesday, the HBCUAC announced that Jarvis Christian University has been approved for membership, becoming the conference's 16th member institution beginning in the 2026-27 academic year. This landmark addition makes the HBCUAC the largest HBCU athletic conference in the nation.

The announcement was made during a press conference featuring HBCUAC Commissioner Kiki Baker Barnes, Jarvis Christian University President Glenell M. Lee-Pruitt, and Athletic Director Bobby Ladner.

Currently competing in the Red River Athletic Conference, Jarvis Christian University brings a rich legacy to its new conference home. Commissioner Barnes expressed enthusiasm about the addition, emphasizing the university's distinguished reputation.
