The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced its weekly women's outdoor track and field honors on April 22, 2026, recognizing outstanding performances from two HBCU student-athletes competing at the highest level.

Howard University junior Yahnari Lyons was named Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while Morgan State senior Brylan Carter earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors, showcasing the depth of talent across the conference.

Key Takeaway: The MEAC continues to spotlight exceptional athletic performances from HBCU student-athletes, with Howard and Morgan State leading the way in women's outdoor track and field competition this season.

Lyons' recognition marks another achievement for the Howard Bison track and field program, as the junior continues to make her mark on the conference.

Her performance earned her the distinction of being named the top track athlete in the MEAC for the week, demonstrating the consistent excellence that Howard has displayed throughout the outdoor season.

Meanwhile, Carter's senior season continues to be one for the record books as the Morgan State standout secured field athlete of the week honors. The recognition highlights the veteran leadership and skill that the Morgan State Bears have relied upon throughout the championship season.

The weekly honors announced from Norfolk, Virginia, serve as a reminder of the exceptional athletic talent nurtured at HBCUs across the MEAC. Both Howard and Morgan State have long histories of producing elite track and field athletes who compete at the conference, regional, and national levels.

As the outdoor track and field season progresses, both Lyons and Carter will look to build on their award-winning performances and lead their respective teams toward success at the MEAC Championships and beyond. Their achievements this week exemplify the competitive spirit and athletic excellence that define HBCU sports.
