Backed by the Michael Jackson estate, Michael delivers a high-energy, deeply nostalgic rush that leaves audiences dancing in the aisles, but it has faced heavy criticism for being a frictionless, sanitized biopic that glosses over its subject’s complex history in favor of pure hagiography.
