Black Child

Black Child
Posted By: Jasmine Moore on July 07, 2006

Black child, runnin' wild, lil sleep in a lil while, hiding from danger, to this she is no stranger. Black child runnin' wild, raven colored hair, midnight stare, is she without worry or care? Black Child runnin wild, terrorized by demon past and sacred pride, this little girl can't hide.
Too much knowledge does she have, let her share this ancient past.

Black Child runnin wild, gotta change the world, who cares if she's a little girl.
This world is harsh to this Black Child, searching in an all-too-terrible darkness for the light. Will her world ever be bright?
Change this place little Black Child, give back to us what we once had. Rule again little Black Child.
Black Child runnin' wild, love for her people is in her smile and Revolution is in her hands.
Bring back the Revolution once again.
Bring back the Mother Land.

I praise you... that was deep, it is great to see us (meaning Afro-Americans) making a change and thinking and speaking about revolution. I dislike saying this about my brothers and sisters out here but not many of our friends an d loving ones talks about the future ahead of us nor are they making a change for them-selves... But I am glad to say that I see it here on this website HBCU CONNECT is being out the best in the future Afro-American guys and girls... God bless you at Howard....

Thank you all for your comments. I wrote this on the spur of the moment! I don't even really write poetry, yet I had so much feeling!
