Six HBCU Legends Enshrined in Black College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026

The storied tradition of HBCU football excellence took center stage Friday night as the Black College Football Hall of Fame held its 17th annual induction ceremony at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. The distinguished Class of 2026 brought together six exceptional individuals whose contributions have shaped the landscape of Black college football.

Leading the Class of 2026 are names that resonate throughout HBCU football history. Alabama State head coach Eddie Robinson Jr. continues his family's legendary coaching legacy, while Fort Valley State great Tyrone Poole earned recognition for his outstanding career that extended to the professional ranks.

The class also features two former NFL standouts who first made their mark at HBCUs. Nick Collins of Bethune-Cookman and Jimmy Smith of Jackson State both parlayed their HBCU success into distinguished professional careers, proving once again that Black college football serves as a pipeline for elite talent.

Howard University alumnus Steve Wyche, a longtime media contributor, was honored for his contributions to the game.

Rounding out the class is legendary Florida A&M coach Rudy Hubbard, whose coaching career left an indelible mark on HBCU football and the countless young men he mentored throughout his time on the sidelines.
