How Urban Golf Weekend Is Investing in Golf's Next Generation

How Urban Golf Weekend Is Investing in Golf
Posted By: on July 20, 2026

Urban Golf Weekend Returns to Miami for Labor Day Weekend, Featuring Five Days of Golf, Business, Culture, and Community Impact

Powered by the Urban Golf Foundation, Inc., the event continues to expand access to golf through scholarships, mentorship, and youth development programs.

Urban Golf Weekend (UGW) returns to Miami September 3–7, 2026, for five days of golf, business, culture, networking, philanthropy, and community impact. Hosted at Eden Roc Miami Beach and Miami Beach Golf Club, UGW has grown into one of the nation's premier multicultural golf and lifestyle experiences.

Each Labor Day Weekend, the event draws professionals, entrepreneurs, executives, creatives, and golf enthusiasts from across the United States seeking meaningful relationships, business opportunities, and world-class golf, complemented by curated cultural and lifestyle experiences.

Urban Golf Weekend has become a national platform that harnesses golf to catalyze leadership, entrepreneurship, economic opportunity, and community engagement. Weekend registration packages include the Non-Golfer Weekend Pass, the Golfer Weekend Pass, and the VIP Upgrade Pass. Register today at www.urbangolfweekend.com to secure your place.

Driving Opportunity Beyond the Fairway
At the heart of Urban Golf Weekend is the Urban Golf Foundation, Inc., the organization's 501(c)(3) charitable foundation dedicated to using golf as a vehicle for community development, mentorship, education, and economic opportunity. Through year-round programming focused on youth and adult engagement, workforce development, and expanded access to the game, the Foundation works to remove barriers that have historically limited participation in golf and to create pathways to leadership, relationship-building, personal growth, and career success on and off the course.

Urban Golf Weekend is the Foundation's signature fundraising and awareness event, supporting HBCU golf scholarships, youth golf programs, mentorship opportunities, and community partnerships that introduce more young people and families to the game.

Over the past four years, Urban Golf Weekend and Urban Golf Foundation have invested more than $50,000 in scholarships and youth initiatives, helping cultivate the next generation of golfers, leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals.

From Charity Tournament to National Movement
Urban Golf Weekend was founded by Clifton Addison, who believes golf can be much more than a sport. It can be a vehicle for connection, mentorship, economic empowerment, and lasting community impact.

The idea was born after Addison was introduced to the game through Fore Life, an organization dedicated to introducing more young people to golf. When asked to help organize a charitable golf tournament to support the organization's mission, he saw an opportunity to create more than a single fundraising event.

Drawing on his business and golf experience, Addison envisioned a culturally relevant destination experience that would introduce more people of color to the sport and create opportunities for networking, entrepreneurship, mentorship, leadership development, and relationship-building.

As that vision grew, Addison partnered with Woody Remy, Founder and President of Brainstorm Miami, to transform the concept into one of the country's most distinctive golf-and-lifestyle experiences.

What began as a charitable initiative has evolved into a nationally recognized movement where business, culture, philanthropy, wellness, and golf intersect to drive lasting impact.

To extend that mission beyond Labor Day Weekend, Addison established the Urban Golf Foundation, Inc., ensuring the organization's work continues year-round.

The Foundation provides scholarships, mentorship, youth engagement, workforce development, and community partnerships that leverage golf as a catalyst for opportunity and social impact.

Now in its fourth year, Urban Golf Weekend continues to redefine the golf experience by creating a space where culture, commerce, collaboration, and community converge.

"Urban Golf Weekend was built on the belief that access changes lives," said Clifton Addison, Founder of Urban Golf Weekend and of Urban Golf Foundation, Inc. "Whether it's access to mentorship, meaningful business relationships, educational opportunities, or golf itself, our mission has always been to create pathways for people to thrive.
Through Urban Golf Foundation, we're extending that impact beyond one weekend each year by investing in future generations through scholarships, mentorship, and community engagement.”

"For many attendees, Urban Golf Weekend has become an annual reunion for leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers from across the country," said Woody Remy, Founder and President of Brainstorm Miami. "The weekend offers authentic opportunities to build lasting relationships while experiencing the best of golf, business, culture, and community. Seeing those connections endure long after the event ends is one of the most rewarding parts of what we've built together.”

As participation in golf continues to reach record levels nationwide, Urban Golf Weekend sits at the intersection of sports, business, entrepreneurship, tourism, philanthropy, and culture, expanding representation in the game and creating opportunities for collaboration, economic mobility, and community impact.
