HBCU Culture Marches to Dallas: Pepsi National Battle of the Bands Lands at AT&T Stadium in 2027

HBCU Culture Marches to Dallas: Pepsi National Battle of the Bands Lands at AT&T Stadium in 2027
Posted By: Roger The Great on July 29, 2026

One of the nation's most electrifying celebrations of Historically Black College and University culture is heading to North Texas. The Pepsi National Battle of the Bands (NBOTB) has officially announced that Dallas-Fort Worth will become the new home of its signature August event beginning in 2027, with the inaugural celebration set for Saturday, August 27, 2027, centered around the world-famous AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

For more than a decade, the National Battle of the Bands called Houston home, drawing tens of thousands of fans, generating millions in economic impact, and elevating the artistry and tradition of HBCU marching bands to a national audience. Now the event enters its next chapter in one of the country's fastest-growing and most culturally vibrant regions — a move organizers say will expand the showcase's reach while delivering a major cultural and economic boost to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

The Details at a Glance
• Event: Pepsi National Battle of the Bands
• Date: Weekend of August 27, 2027
• Venue: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas
• What to expect: Elite HBCU marching bands, alumni, students, and fans from across the country

"This move and partnership represent the next chapter for the Pepsi National Battle of the Bands," said Derek Webber, Executive Producer and Creator of the National Battle of the Bands.

"As we look toward the future, Dallas provides an incredible opportunity to expand the experience, strengthen community engagement, and continue elevating HBCU culture and excellence on a national stage."

Webber pointed to Dallas-Fort Worth as one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, with a strong sports culture, a vibrant business community, and a large network of HBCU alumni and supporters eager to show up for the performers. AT&T Stadium's international reputation as a premier venue, he noted, will only amplify the visibility of these bands on the biggest possible stage. "When people watch an HBCU marching band, they're seeing much more than entertainment," Webber said. "They're seeing discipline, leadership, creativity, teamwork and a tradition that's been passed down from one generation to the next. That's what makes it so special."

For HBCU students, alumni, and fans, the announcement is more than a concert date — it is a celebration of the excellence, pride, and tradition that define the HBCU experience. Beyond the performances, NBOTB has long invested in HBCU communities through education, scholarship, and partnerships that spotlight the talent coming out of these institutions. The move to a stadium that hosts Super Bowls and college football playoffs signals just how far the celebration of HBCU band culture has come.

Details on participating bands, ticket information, and weekend programming will be released in the coming months. HBCU Connect will keep our community updated as the road to Dallas takes shape. Mark your calendars for August 27, 2027 — and start planning your trip to Arlington to experience the sights, sounds, and unmatched tradition of HBCU marching bands live at AT&T Stadium.
