Make an Impact: Callen-Lorde Seeks a Social Worker (LMSW/LCSW) in NYC

Looking for a career where your compassion changes lives every single day? One of New York City's most respected community health organizations is hiring, and this could be the opportunity that puts your social work degree to work for a cause that matters.

Callen-Lorde Community Health Center is searching for a Social Worker (LMSW/LCSW) to join its behavioral health team. For nearly 50 years, Callen-Lorde has been a global leader in healthcare for LGBTQ+ communities, delivering sensitive, judgment-free care to everyone who walks through its doors — regardless of their ability to pay. With locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, the organization is a New York City institution rooted in the values of community, dignity, and health justice.

The Role at a Glance
Title: Social Worker (LMSW/LCSW)
Employer: Callen-Lorde Community Health Center
Location: New York City (Manhattan / Brooklyn / Bronx)
Field: Behavioral Health & Social Services

This is a role for a licensed professional who wants to do meaningful, front-line work. As a member of the behavioral health team, you would provide comprehensive behavioral health services within your LMSW/LCSW scope of practice, conduct clinical assessments, facilitate referrals, deliver crisis intervention, and connect vulnerable New Yorkers to the care and resources they need.

It is challenging, purpose-driven work — and exactly the kind of impact so many HBCU-trained social workers are called to make.

Why this matters for our community. Social work has deep roots at HBCUs, where programs have trained generations of Black professionals to serve, advocate, and lead. Callen-Lorde offers a workplace where that commitment to health equity is not a slogan but the entire mission. Full-time employees receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes a low-cost medical plan option (extendable to a domestic partner and family), tuition assistance, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, and flexible spending accounts.

Who should apply. If you are a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who believes healthcare is a human right and wants to grow your clinical skills in a supportive, mission-driven environment, this is your moment. New graduates and seasoned practitioners alike are encouraged to explore the opportunity.

Don't just find a job — find a mission. Callen-Lorde is waiting for you.
