They reflect on Taylor’s journey and how Sister Omelika’s mentorship and support contributed to her matriculation, including the impact of Taylor’s groundbreaking performance in the talent portion of the 42nd Miss Spelman Pageant. --- Behind the Gates, Beyond the Arch is a film series that brings together a current student and an alumna to have a Spelmanite-on-Spelmanite discussion, where they share their innovative experiences in the shared industry one aspires to and the other trailblazes in. The student and alumna engage in a dialogue unpacking the inspirations, opportunities, obstacles, and triumphs that have shaped their respective journeys. From the classroom to the real world, Spelman women are reimagining what it means to be a change agent, redefining the standards for Black women industrially, and refining innovative techniques for present and future generations to come.
