The Analogy of the Hills

Posted By: Art Malloy on August 27, 2006 The hills of life serve as the highpoint They are the place from which progress can viewed Or from which inevitability can be surveyed If I spend my life fulfilling others and rendering service The hills show me from whence I ascended If I spend my time complaining and plotting The hills show me my bitter destiny The top is good when you worked to arrive there It holds the inevitable and unenviable fate For those who were placed there The first shall be last and the last shall be first Such philosophy means nothing to nobility Whether such status be true or imagined But to the one who starts the race light-years behind To reach the hilltop only places out of the reach of humanity And takes them closer to God If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
