National Black Pre-Law Admissions & Preparation Conference 2006

National Black Pre-Law Admissions & Preparation Conference 2006
Posted By: Evangeline M. Mitchell on September 02, 2006

DALLAS, TEXAS – After the success of last year’s event in Houston, the first and only national pre-law conference created especially for aspiring Black lawyers is returning this fall! The National Black Pre-Law Admissions & Preparation Conference and Law Fair 2006 will be held from Friday, September 8 until Sunday, September 10, 2006 at the beautiful Magnolia Hotel located in the heart of downtown Dallas, Texas. The conference theme is "Encouraging Excellence, Strategic Thinking, and a Competitive Mindset Among African American Law School Aspirants."

In an affirming environment, Black law school hopefuls will be given encouragement along with needed “tough love” so that they can better understand what they are facing in making the decision to pursue a professional legal education. Attendees will be told the truth about the realities of what it really takes to make it in the highly competitive world of law school admissions, the difficulties of and lessons to be learned from the all-consuming law school experience, and the challenges and rewards of carving a career inside and outside of the legal profession with a hard-earned law degree in hand.

Through this conference, future Black lawyers will benefit tremendously from being able to choose from a comprehensive menu of nearly 40 workshop session and panel discussion options. There will be over 100 accomplished and community-minded speakers, presenters, panelists and advisors including law school administrators, law students, student leaders, law professors, attorneys and judges converging from all over the United States to take part in this groundbreaking conference. Moreover, there will be a Law School Recruitment Fair with almost 100 law schools represented specifically to recruit and meet prospective Black law students face to face.

Not only that, conference attendees may take advantage of mock law school classes, an intensive African American Leadership Training Institute, an Image Enhancement and Self-Marketing Institute, an Entertainment Law workshop, among a myriad of other choices. Moreover, the conference will hold its signature interactive event - the Law School Admissions & Preparation Help Advice Clinic where attendees can meet one on one with a knowledgeable law student, pre-law advisor or lawyer to discuss their personal questions or concerns regarding law school.

In addition to all of the invaluable information that will be provided for two full days, critical professional networking activities are also planned to encourage social interaction between attendees and to provide opportunities to create relationships with potential mentors. These events include a Friday evening Happy Hour followed by a Networking Social/Mentorship Mixer and the Saturday night Legacy Builders Awards Reception preceding the National Association of Future Black Law Students (NAFBLS) Inaugural National Induction and Pinning Ceremony. There will also be After-Hours Thought Provoking Black Cinema presentations and informal get-togethers.

This is truly a historic "can't miss" event that all aspiring Black lawyers who are serious about their future success should plan to attend. What is so special and rare about this dynamic conference is that it promotes an atmosphere of family and an expectation that attendees can succeed armed with good information, mentorship, self-discipline and a solid support system. Spaces are limited and filling up fast, so you are encouraged to register ASAP. Scholarship assistance is available.
