Dear James Wright,

Globalization is a process of development that involves many actors attempting to meet their own interests and objectives in an environment that links local, national, and international concerns. Blacks must raise their voices and participate in the discourses that are shaping global policy, politics, and economics. Therefore, future trade pacts must be more democratic in their creation and more sensitive to the issues raised by Black business owners who desire "fair" trade and not just free trade policies. Black business activists and intellectuals must engage themselves in the policy construction process regarding foreign economic policy.
In other cases, government bungling, inefficiencies and abuses have neglected free-trade gains or prevented them from trickling down to Black business owners. With this being said, it is in the interest of the Black community to become familiar with strategies and tactics of lobbying in this arena. As globalization continues to grow, related issues affecting Blacks will expand and require political and policy responses. Society as a whole knows that it would be difficult for Blacks to produce everything they need; therefore there is a critical need to develop cross- national alliances and cooperation with groups in developed and developing countries who face similar situations. Therefore, I feel that a forum is necessary in order to indoctrinate Black business owners on how to enter this global market; and develop direct relations with foreign business owners. We as Black people in this global economy have to decide if our business interest is best served by organizations that do not represent our concerns, but merely feeding off of your desire of having a business in the United States of America.

Please respond,

William D. Frazier
