Posted By: Patrick Davis on September 27, 2006 Untitled Love (Poem) Sometimes you may see me in a daze Sometimes im lost in translation amidst your purple haze Sometimes I feel like just another fan Disconnected in your enchanting maze Sometimes you make me feel partly cloudy With high chances of giving up Your love makes me feel dehydrated Because of you my heart has run amuck I fill my pen with red ink As it saturates my soul I would have turned my back on our destiny A long time ago had I been more bold Sometimes I wish I were never under your spell I wish I had an endless supply Of bungee cords, parachutes and safety nets For everytime for you that I fell I wish for you that day the birds didn’t sing I wish we never secured so many secrets While our inter-locked pinkies swing I was only playing the role of court jester But deep down inside beats for you the heart of a king You filled the hole in my heart and for you my spirit sings Sometimes I wish you would have gave me a sign I reminisce on the first time I saw your smile And fast forward to the good times Now I am entrapped in your inspired love song I think about you with the pluck of each string I held my chest out for your arrow to the heart Sacrificing myself for cupids sting Life is not the same when you don’t have your one true queen I don’t want to phatom the thought of giving someone else your ring Let’s make our love official And raise a tribe of young black kings I am here for you I will never abandon you I want to be with you for the long haul To nurture and when need be heal Your mind, body and soul-mate Protect you from the evils of the world And keep what we have so real That it inspires the fake to love again Our enemies to trust again But our journey can only begin By you opening up your heart And allowing me into vulnerable spaces So that we can build the foundation for new places If not today, then one day And I just want you to know That I will have my hammer and nails Ready and willing to work for your love Break a sweat to satisfy you And truly be eternally and spiritually yours... by Patrick "PJ" Davis - "The Conscious Epidemic" Poetry Book Coming Summer 2007 Starving Poets, Inc www.starvingpoets.org If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
