|
Posted By: Marcus Jamel Adams on October 21, 2006 this is our sophmore project Celebrating 10 years as director of the Award Winning Benedict College Gospel Choir, Minister Darryl Izzard and the world-renowned Benedict College Gospel Choir in invite you to “Say the Word” at their annual Homecoming Concert & sophomore live recording. This event will culminate the annual Homecoming festivities on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. at Brookland Baptist Church, 1066 Sunset Blvd, West Columbia, S.C. This is a free concert and doors open at 6:30pm. The Benedict College Gospel Choir is a program in the Fine Arts Department at Benedict College and has been ranked the #1 collegiate gospel choir in the nation for 6 of the past 8 years. Amazingly, they continue to reach audiences of all races, ages and faiths with the message of faith and hope for a brighter tomorrow. Most recently members of the choir took their message abroad to Caracas, Venezuela, and for the third time will be featured performers at the Vatican in Rome, Italy this Christmas. We have also performed with Shirley Ceaser, Ricky Dillard, Olanda Draper, Norman Hutchins, Montage Philone, and many others. This eighty voice ensemble consists of talented students from across the U.S. sharing their power and gifts of music with life changing results. The concert will feature original gospel compositions written and arranged by Minister Izzard, several students and alumni. The experience will be phenomenal! All of our guests at this event will be inspired and touched by the songs written by our students. “It’s really unbelievable! This CD is destined for greatness”, states Izzard. “The message will leave everyone uplifted and encouraged.” The music from this concert will be released in December 2006. There will be an opportunity to pre-order the CD as well as purchase copies of the choir’s debut CD, “Say the Word”. For more information call 803-705-4525 or visit www.thebcgc.com. What an awesome closure for homecoming week, this will be. If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
