City Year, a proud member of AmeriCorps, is a national service organization that brings together young adults, ages 17 to 24, from diverse backgrounds for a demanding ten-months of full-time community service, leadership development, and civic engagement. In 17 locations across the United States, these young leaders invest their talents and energy to address our country’s most critical needs. City Year corps members engage others in service and make a positive difference in their communities and in the lives of children and youth. City Year's vision is that one day; the most commonly asked question of a young person will be, "Where are you going to do your service year?" Founded in 1988, City Year has established programs in Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH; Columbia, SC; Columbus, OH; Detroit, MI; Little Rock, AR; Los Angeles, CA; Louisiana; New Hampshire; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Rhode Island; San Antonio, TX; San Jose/Silicon Valley, CA; Seattle/King County, WA; and Washington D.C.
